Most Frequently Asked Questions:
Cost:
Generally, the Spectra-Glaze® Trim SaverTM Closure Series "CCOs", is a small portion of an any Spectra-Glaze® Block project and is priced in line with the average shape. Therefore the average installed price of $11.23 per square foot also applies to the Trim-Saver&trade Series Closure units.
However, the Trim-SaverTM type "A" Series not only creates another design opportunity but gives a savings of $124.00 per 8 foot corner as compared to the 8 inch full return corner. If the entire building was constructed of the "A" Series corner, the average cost of your Spectra-Glaze® wall would be $10.65 per square foot completely installed. All cost were taken from a U.S. and Canadian average and were calculated in accordance with 1998 Means Building Cost Construction Data which includes a 20% markup for construction profit.
What through wall sizes are available?
The Spectra-Glaze® Trim SaverTM Closure units are available in 1 inch thick by 4", 6" and 8" nominally. There is also a specially designed closure unit design to cover the extra inch required where the vertical and horizontal section of a
corner meet. This unit is known as a CCJO units and is also available in 4", 6" and 8"
thickness. Cove base closure units "VGCCO" are also available. This type of
closure unit is only available in round corners.

The Trim SaverTM jambs known as the "A" series are a 4"x4" unit, available in 8" or 16" height with round or square corners. See the nomenclature description below.
Can cap off my exterior wall with this unit?
NO. The Spectra-Glaze® Trim SaverTM units was not designed to be a stand alone water proof unit. Although garden retainer walls have been successfully designed with this closure unit, it is not recommended to be used as an exterior cap.
How do the Trim SaverTM units grip the mortar?
There are three ways a Spectra-Glaze® manufacturer can produce this block to sucessfully attach to the mortar.
First, with metal mesh wire imbedded into the Spectra-Glaze® material. Second, with groves cut into the Spectra-Glaze® material allowing the mortar to have a rough surface to attach itself to. Third, a block is imbedded into the Spectra-Glaze® material. All three work equally as well and is the choice of your local manufacturer unless otherwise specified by the mason or architect.
The Spectra-Glaze® Trim SaverTM "A" Series is locked securely into the wall using integrally bonded concrete or corrosion resistant steel anchoring system. The unit is easily pushed into the mortar bed giving a consistently accurate cornering alternative.
